Cassie Kologi

Catherine “Cassie” Welch Kologi, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 7, 2015, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community. She was under the care of Hearts for Hospice and her loving daughters. Cassie was born December 22, 1936, in Helena, Montana. She was raised by Robert “Bud” Welch and Lillian Lindquist Welch in Montana, where she attended area schools. She later attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. On June 16, 1957, she married the love of her life, Anthony Lee “Tony” Kologi in Helena, Montana. Tony and Cassie moved to Idaho Falls in 1957. To this union were born three daughters: Becky, Debra and Lisa. Cassie and Tony made their home in Idaho Falls, where she worked as a unit secretary at Riverview Hospital, a part of what is now Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Tony passed away July 14, 1996. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls and also Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Mesquite, Nevada. Catherine enjoyed golfing, traveling and baseball, (Go Dodgers!). She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Jaymie Strever and Sam Meyer. Cassie is survived by her daughters, Becky Meyer of Idaho Falls, ID, Debra (Jay) Strever of Billings, MT, Lisa (Chris) Ourada of Idaho Falls, ID; a brother, Martin (Susan) Welch of Helena, MT; a sister, Joanne (John) Romosko of East Helena, MT; and her two grandchildren, Jaymie and Sam. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Lillian Welch, and her husband, Tony Kologi. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Snake River Animal Shelter, P. Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge avenue, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Larry Cudmore of First Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating.
