Carolyn Nelson

Carolyn Willis Nelson, 69, of Shelley, passed away October 16, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Carolyn was born August 23, 1947, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Arthur Willis and Peggy Joy Gohr Willis. She grew up in the area, attended Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls and graduated from Rigby High School in Rigby.

On August 5, 1966, she married Robert Alan Nelson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born two children, Keri and Robert. Bobby and Carolyn made their home in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina; Springfield, Oregon; Shoshoni, Wyoming; Marcola, Oregon; and eventually settled in Shelley, Idaho. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and loved spending time with her family.

Carolyn is survived by daughter, Keri Meri (Jeff) Sammons of Shelley, ID, son, Robert D. (Debbra) Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID, mother, Peggy Willis. sister, Marilynn (Jim) Baker of Shelley, ID, brother, John (Barbara) Willis of Idaho Falls, ID, sister, Nancy Willis of Idaho Falls, ID, sister, Patricia (Merlin) Adams of Shelley, ID, brother, Tim Willis of Ammon, ID, 9 grandchildren: Brittany (Charles Bird) Vogel, Thomas Summerbell, Bobby (Brooke) Nelson, Brandy Sammons, Rivers (Taliena Abner) Nelson, April Nelson, Brooke Sammons, Jeffrey Sammons, and Jessica Loya-Trevizo. 5 great grandchildren: Jaydenlynn Rose Vogel and Logan Kody Vogel, Jade Rose Bondley, Summer Star Bondley and Pyper Carolyn Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, father, and a sister, Joy Ann Willis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Shelley LDS South Stake Center (675 South Milton) with Bishop Huntsman officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
