Carolyn Messenger

Carolyn Jean Owens Messenger, 72, of Iona, passed away January 7, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. Carolyn was born September 18, 1940, in Shelley, Idaho, to Eugene D. “Gene” Owens and Loraine Jensen Owens. She was the first of three children and was followed by Steve Owens and Ron Owens. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Idaho Falls High School. She continued her education by attending Idaho State College for two more years. On September 26, 1957, she married Jack Allen Messenger in New Sweden, Idaho. She was a mother and homemaker and also worked as Secretary of Food Services for Bonneville School District for 25 years. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack Messenger of Iona, Idaho, Son, Ross Allen (Joyce) Messenger of Kuna, Idaho Son, Bryan Gene Messenger of Rigby, Idaho Son, Mark Lane (Sherrie) Messenger of Inkom, Idaho Brother, Steve (Cindy) Owens, Island Park, Idaho Brother, Ron (Jonie) Owens, Elko, Nevada and 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Sherri Messenger. Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery at a later date.
