Carol Shenton

Carol Lee Schwartz Shenton, 75, of Dubois, Idaho, passed away April 10, 2012, in Idaho Falls, surrounded by her family. She was under the care of Creekside Home Health and Hospice. Carol was born December 27, 1936, in Weston, Idaho, to Albert Lorenzo Schwartz and Melva Phillips Schvaneveldt Schwartz. She grew up in the Terreton and Mud Lake area, where she attended Terreton Elementary and graduated from Roberts High School. On July 12, 1956, she married Donald Wells Shenton in Terreton. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 26, 1964. Carol and Donald moved from Medicine Lodge to Dubois and raised their family there. She was a mother and homemaker and worked as a bus driver for the school district and in janitorial services for the LDS Church. She was a member of the Election Board in Dubois and drove the Senior Citizen Bus for many years. Carol loved serving her community. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and cheerfully served in various callings, most recently as librarian. Carol enjoyed quilting and made sure each one of her grandchildren had their own quilt keepsake. In addition to her treasured family members, Carol was an avid antique collector and enjoyed old treasures as well. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports and perform. She was affectionately known as MeMe by her 20 grandchildren and great grandchildren. MeMe took great pride in their many accomplishments and she was their biggest fan. MeMe was full of love and was loved very much by her children and grandchildren. She left her family an incredible legacy of hard work, service and endurance to the end. She will be deeply missed. Survivors are: Daughter: Terri (Eric) Ames of Boise, ID Son: Gary (DeLaine) Shenton of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Janie (Roger) Christensen of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Greg (Lisa) Shenton of Dubois, ID Sister: Norma Garner of Idaho Falls, ID Sister: Bonnie (Lindsay) Hatch of Driggs, ID Sister: Marie (Tony) Staley of Dillon, MT Sister: Faye (Evan) Morgan of Rigby, ID 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a son, Donald Wayne Shenton; a granddaughter, April Dawn Christensen; two brothers, Leon Schwartz and Legrand Schwartz; and a sister, Mary Lou Schwartz. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Dubois LDS Beaver Creek Ward, 471 East 2nd South, with Bishop Shane Jacobson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Dubois Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made at www.esiason.org to help fight Cystic Fibrosis.
