Carol Ann Randolph

Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, Carol Ann Randolph of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 8, 2022, in Shelley Idaho.

She was born October 16, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Della Ve Wilson and William Albert McClellan. Carol grew up in Payson, Utah, graduated from Payson High School in 1956, and earned an associates degree in secretarial arts from BYU in Provo, Utah. She worked for a number of years exercising her secretarial skills. She amazed many with her efficiency and ability to out-type even the fastest electric typewriters of the day.

Carol was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served with diligence and joy in the Church as pianist, organist, Relief Society secretary, Primary secretary, and Stake Primary secretary and in other positions. She and her husband Ray were called as missionaries as they pioneered the name extraction program in the area, gleaning names and event dates from old Spanish records on microfilm. She loved service and sought out any opportunity she could to help others. She was proud to say that from the age of 18 until 83 she served as a visiting teacher and never missed a monthly visit. She always kept a large box of cards at hand to write words of greeting, comfort, and well wishes to many friends and acquaintances.

Carol was active for years in the local Camp of the Bonneville Company of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. For several years, she served as secretary. The associations she made were a great source of joy.

She was active for years as an election worker for Bonneville County.

Carol's greatest source of joy was her family. She organized numerous large and small family reunions, appreciated by all.

Other hobbies she enjoyed include crafts, music, reading, and crocheting bibs for new babies in the ward and in a local Humanitarian Center, and she enjoyed cooking (including all variations imaginable of jello salads).

Carol is survived by a brother, Charles Albert McClellan (Eva) of San Jose, California; children Lynn Shepherd (Debbie) of Lindon, Utah, John Shepherd (Michiko) of Tokyo, Japan, Kent Shepherd (Meredith) of Oviedo, Florida, Mariann Shepherd of Island Park, Idaho, Brian Randolph of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She has 14 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Carol will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to experience her smile, her service, her friendship, her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and her unconditional love.
