Carmen Rhoda Nelson Miskin, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 4, 2010, at her home of natural causes. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. Carmen was born October 28, 1915, in Preston, Idaho, to Taylor Nelson and Susie Hawkes Nelson. She lived and attended school in Preston and graduated from Preston High School. She furthered her education at Utah State University and Ricks College. Carmen married Merlin Ruben Miskin on February 28, 1942. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. He died June 18, 1985. Together they raised their family of five children. She was a homemaker and a mother and school teacher of 20 years. She taught First Grade at Rose Elementary, Riverdale Elementary, Ucon Elementary and Fairview Elementary. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served a full-time mission with Merlin to Canada, Winnipeg, from November 1977 to May 1979. She also served a mission in the Genealogy Vaults and Records Department in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also served as a Temple Worker in the Idaho Falls Temple and in the Jordan River Temple. Carmen enjoyed all types of handwork, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She loved to read and she especially enjoyed teaching First Graders to read. She liked doing family history and genealogy. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening. She is survived by Her daughter, Susan (David) Crafts of Coltman, ID; Son, Stephen (Sandra) Miskin of Sandy, UT; Daughter, Jann (Richard) Sommers of Coltman, ID; Son, Chad (LuAnn) Miskin of Brigham City, UT; Sister, Fay (Del) Price of Eagle, ID; 21 Grandchildren and 40 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin, and a daughter, Judy Fenton. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010, at the Coltman LDS Ward Building, 12448 North 5th East with Bishop Blair Sautter officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Friday from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Riverdale Cemetery in Riverdale (Franklin County), Idaho.

Funeral Services

Friday December 10, 2010 , 10:00 a.m. at Coltman LDS Chapel

The family will visit with friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Riverdale Cemetery in Riverdale (Franklin County), Idaho.
