Carla Maria Williams, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 17, 2026, at Parkwood Meadows. She was under the care of her loving family and Symbii Hospice.
Carla was born February 28, 1942, in Heemstede, Netherlands, to Jan Joannes VanStaveren and Betsy Nievaard VanStaveren. She grew up and attended schools in Netherlands and Salt Lake City, Utah, and graduated from high school.
On January 2, 1960, she married Clyde Larry Williams in Salt Lake City. Carla and Clyde made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Carla worked to support their growing family.
Carla enjoyed family activities and chasing her three children around. She sacrificed her own needs to make sure her family had what they needed. She moved mountains for what they wanted. (Lisa wanted horses, so they moved so she could have her dream.)
Carla was a strong woman. She loved camping so Larry, Karl, David, and Lisa could ride motorcycles. Winter was snow machines on the weekends. Carla was always busy making life better for everyone. She often forgot about herself. The life Carla endured to bring her to the life that she led was indeed incredible.
Carla is survived by her son, David Williams of Nampa, ID; daughter, Lisa Spruill of Idaho Falls, ID; brothers, John VanStaveren and Art VanStaveren; sister, Bea Hardison; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde Williams; son, Karl D Williams; and daughter, Mary Elizabeth Williams.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Ammon Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
