Carl Gene Sorensen, 63, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away at his home on January 23, 2014.
He was born January 26, 1950, to Ora and Marion Sorensen. He was the youngest child of four siblings. He attended schools in Idaho Falls, and graduated from Skyline High School in 1968.
On September 2, 1967, he married Susan Wood in the Ammon LDS 4th Ward in Idaho Falls, were they lived with their two kids, Bradley James and Keri Ann. They moved to Arco, Idaho, in 1975. They later divorced and he remained in Arco until 1998.
On October 2, 1999, he married Tina T. Sims and they had two children, Chad Carl and Alisha Lynn. They resided in Idaho Falls with the children and later divorced. He devoted the rest of his life to raising his two youngest children. Carl was a gentle and loving man and devoted father who cared deeply for his family.
Carl, in his younger years, loved the outdoors. He spent a lot of time taking his family camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. In his later years, he developed a talent for photography.
Carl worked most of his working life as an operator at the INL until he took early retirement at the age of fifty-six to care for the young children still at home.
Carl is survived by
son, Bradley Sorensen of Idaho Falls;
daughter, Keri Carlson (Nick) of Castle Rock, CO;
daughter, Alisha Sorensen of Idaho Falls;
son, Chad Sorensen of Idaho Falls;
sister, Judy (Mike) Varley of Medford, OR;
brother, Stan Sorensen of Pocatello;
brother, Larry Sorensen of Medford, OR;
6 grandchildren, Brant Sorensen, Dayne (Samantha) Sorensen, Dylan (Lee) Carlson, Rylee Carlson, Kenadi Carlson and Tyler Carlson.
He is preceded in death by his former wife Susan Sorensen , his father Marion Sorensen, his mother Ora Sorensen, and his grandson Connor Bradly who passed away in 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
