Dear Jan, Tom & Elaine,
I was sorry to read about Carl. It is so hard to loose the ones we love. I had heard that he had been ill and I hope that he didn't suffer too long. I have such fond memories of us when we were younger and will always remember those happy times and consider him part of my happy memories. My heart is with you all.

Hi Elaine, Jan, Tommy and Buster.
We are so sorry to hear about your loss. In addition to being family and fellow firemen, Carl was also a true friend. My days with him around the fire station still bring fond memories (and a few chuckles). I know Carl is looking forward to his last ride on 403. When I was stationed with him at Station 3, that happened to be the very first fire truck I ever drove. And the days of doing drywall in your house on Tautphaus Dr. were highlights as well. He will be missed by many.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am Tobe Smith's daughter. It is so sad to see the older group of fire fighters pass on. My Dad always spoke highly of Carl. He said "I hope Carl will out-live me so I can take a ride in the back of his antique fire truck. Well, Carl did and Dad did take the final ride in his old fire truck 18 days later.
Carl will be greatly missed.

Our children went to school with Tom Poulter, so we have known this family for many years. We always thought Carl was a man of high integrity and a man of his word. We know that Carl will enjoy the "last ride" in that great old fire truck!

I stopped by the lock shop to get a key made today and they were closed. I figured the worst. I had heard that Carl was battling cancer. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. He will be missed by all of you very much I'm sure. Just thought I'd let you know I was thinking about you. God bless.

Carl will be greatly missed. Having 3 brothers in the fire department (Dennis, Kelvin and Brett) and being extended family got to see him in both arenas. Always made me laugh. Nice to know he is not suffering and in a better place now. Elaine you take care of yourself.

Dear Elaine and family,
We are so sorry for your loss! Carl was such a nice man. He always seemed so interested in my life and family and was so easy to be around. I drove down Elm Street the day of his funeral and when I looked over at Trinity and saw the fire trucks it just made me smile and think of Carl! He will be missed.
Sincerely, Pam and Bob Chase
