In Loving Memory of Cantlon "Candy" Onion Vreeken

Cantlon "Candy" Onion Vreeken, 90, passed away on July 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. She lived a life defined by kindness, strength, generosity, and unconditional love.

Candy was born on April 28, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Howard and Ruth Onion Moore. She had two brothers and one sister. She moved to California with her family when she was a teenager. She went on to get her associates degree at Pierce Jr. College and then met the love of her life. On August 1, 1959, at the age of twenty-three, she married her wonderful husband John Ron Vreeken.

They had three amazing children together, Susan Black of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Steve Vreeken of Spokane, Washington, and Randy Vreeken of Vancouver, Washington. She had ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Candy was the heart of her family. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, loved, and cared for. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and cherished memories, and her family was always her greatest joy.

She devoted her life to those she loved, always putting others before herself. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend whose wisdom, patience, and unwavering support touched countless lives. Her love knew no limits, and her legacy will continue through the family she so lovingly nurtured.

Candy found joy in life's simple moments, time spent with family, playing cards and games, sharing stories, offering a listening ear, and celebrating every milestone, big or small. Her gentle spirit, caring heart, and quiet strength left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that she is in heaven and her love will remain with us always. We will miss her smile, her laugh, her warm hugs, her words of encouragement, and the countless memories we were blessed to share.

Candy's life was a beautiful example of selfless love, compassion, and grace. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
