KATE HOWARD IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Candy Kathryn "Kate" Andrus Howard, 51, of Rigby, Idaho, and formerly of Jerome, passed away March 13, 2009, in Idaho Falls, with her husband at her side, after fighting a long battle with diabetes and heart disease. Kate was born July 3, 1957, in Jerome, Idaho, to Chuck and Norene VanOrman Andrus. She attended school in Jerome and graduated from Jerome High School in 1975. She furthered her education at Ricks College and Idaho State University. She worked in early childhood development in the Magic Valley before moving to Blue Springs, Missouri, in 1994 to work in the same field. It was in Kansas City that she met the love of her life. She married George Douglas Howard February 14, 1997, in Overland Park, Kansas. They moved to Gardner, Kansas, for a couple of years and then they made the decision to move back to the WEst. They moved to Redmond, Oregon, in 2001 and eventually settled back in Idaho in 2003. Prior to her illness she was the Eastern Idaho Regional Head Start director. Kate was loved by all who knew her. She was adventurous and loved to travel. She spoke at many conventions all over the United States during her career and had many friends throughout the country. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a friend to everyone and always willing to give of herself to others. Kate is survived by her husband, George, of Rigby; her brothers, Randy (Beth) Andrus of Wendell and Scott Andrus of Jerome; five nieces, Katy (Jared) Ratliff, Amy Andrus and Mallory Andrus, all of Pocatello, and Laurie Andrus and Carli Andrus, both of Wendell; and her grandmother, Kathryn VanOrman of Boise; along with many other uncles, aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Norene Andrus; and her maternal grandfather, John VanOrman. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in the Jerome LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 825 East Avenue , Jerome, Idaho. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family one hour before the services at the church. Interment will follow in Jerome Cemetery through Farnsworth Mortuary of Jerome. ----------------------------------------------------
