CAL McGARY IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Calvin Lamar “Cal” McGary, 81, of Idaho Falls, died June 4, 2004, at the home of his daughter in Rigby. He was born January 8, 1923, in Shelley, to David McGary and Esther Louise Staples McGary. He grew up in the Shelley area and attended Goshen School and Shelley Elementary. He served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army 27th Infantry during World War II. In 2002 he was awarded an honorary diploma from Shelley High School. He married Millie Effie Likes March 6, 1948, in Shelley. He worked in the spud houses in Shelley, for Cox's Honey, then went to work as an electrician at the INEEL, from which he retired after 36 years. Millie passed away June 30, 2000. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Scoutmaster. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and hunting. Surviving are: Daughter: Cora Jean Pack, Astoria, OR Son: Calvin George (Judy) McGary, Pocatello, ID Daughter: Pauline Kay (Bob) Gallup, Rigby, ID Son: Keith Ray (Shaunna) McGary, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: David LeRoy (Relda) McGary, Rexburg, ID Brother: Don (LaVaun) McGary, WA Brother: Darwin (Donna) McGary, Shelley, ID Brother: Dwain (Margaret) McGary, CA Brother: Gerald (Dorris) McGary, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Alvin (Wanda) McGary, MA Sister: Jennie (Glen) Johnson, Shelley, ID 8 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Lois Mitchell and Donna Barnes, and three infant brothers. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at the Wood Chapel of the Pines, 273 North Ridge, with Jon A. Wood officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
