C. Wayne Fry

Claude Wayne Fry, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 18, 2015, at his home in Fairwinds Sand Creek Retirement Center. He was under the care of his loved ones and Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Wayne was born March 29, 1935, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Claude Orville Fry and Irene Anna Pfost Fry. Wayne’s family moved from Rexburg to St. Anthony in 1941, where he attended schools and graduated from South Fremont High School. Wayne was an outstanding athlete at South Fremont High School, where he excelled in basketball and track. Wayne was a natural born salesman and sold street rocks, going house to house in the neighborhoods, at the age of five. Later he was known by many in the area as “Mr. Chevrolet” because of his affiliation with The Economy Chevrolet Company in St. Anthony, a business he later became part owner of. On November 25, 1977, he married Virginia E. Jeppesen. In 1986 they moved to Stanley, Idaho, to build their retirement home in the mountains. After living in Stanley for about fifteen years, they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, for health reasons. Virginia passed away December 15, 2010. He enjoyed outdoor activities of snow and water skiing and snow sledding for many years. He was active in civic affairs in St. Anthony and served as President of the Chamber of Commerce at one time. Survivors include: brother, Jack (Noreen) Fry of Idaho Falls, He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Ruth Blayden, and a brother, Charles Fry. Joint Memorial Services will be planned for both Wayne and Virginia in the future, with burial in Sugar City Cemetery, where Virginia can be with her parents. Wayne was very appreciative of the excellent care he received from the staff at Fairwinds and Aspen Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
