Charles “Ray” Carlson, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 20, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, after a valiant fight with cancer.
Ray was born July 30, 1928, in Wellsville, Utah, to Charles Carlson and Ann Perkins Carlson. He was raised and attended schools in North Logan, Utah, graduating from South Cache High School. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
On December 26, 1951, he married Floreine Stringham in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in North Logan, where he was a dairy farmer. They later moved to Idaho, where they lived in Osgood, Shelley, and Firth. They were the parents of six children. Ray worked as a Refueling Engineer at Westinghouse Nuclear and retired in 1991. Floreine preceded him in death January 12, 1987. He married Linda Brown October 2, 1987, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and they lived in Idaho Falls. She brought four children to this marriage.
Ray was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as a youth he served a full-time mission to Norway. He was dedicated to serving others in so many ways. Ray was a very attentive husband and has served his wife, Linda, with love and devotion and always put her needs first. Ray loved to drive - and drive quickly he did. He and Linda enjoyed traveling and took many trips together.
Ray had many wonderful qualities. He had a strong work ethic and continued working and serving others until he was admitted to the hospital on December 5th. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His family loved hearing his stories. He enjoyed spending time outdoors on the tractor or four wheelers, camping and being with his grandchildren. He loved holding new grandbabies and being involved in his children and grandchildren’s lives. He loved his family and they knew it. He will be greatly missed.
