Byron Johnson

Byron W Johnson, 61, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 20, 2023, at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls. He was under the care of his loving family.

Byron was born February 1, 1962, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Burton Elden Johnson and Alta Lenora Rytting Johnson. He grew up and attended schools in Ucon, Idaho, and attended Bonneville High School. He moved to the farm near Ucon in 1965. Byron’s job was to feed all the baby calves.

He loved to lift weights and held a record at Bonneville High in the deadlift. He also loved to work on and ride motorcycles. Byron was injured in a motorcycle accident in May 1978 which left him paralyzed on his left side. He took karate at Southwick Black Belt Academy.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a short service mission in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Byron is survived by his loving sister, TeriLyn Goldman of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Trent (Kelley) Johnson of Millville, UT; brother, Troy (Laurie) Johnson of Rigby, ID; brother, Breck (Lynnette) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Aaron (Sarah) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; 27 nieces and nephews (45 if you include their spouses); 55 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Ucon Ward, 10854 North 41 East. The family will visit with friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
