BYRON BURKE Click here to view Byron's Video Tribute IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather Byron "Pete" Burke passed away March 28, 2009 at his home in Idaho Falls. He and his twin brother, Myron, were born May 31, 1926, in Iona, to Albert Lee Burke and Elvine Docine Hansen Burke. He grew up in Iona and attended school there. He continued his education at the Midwest Modern Shoe Training School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and received a purple heart for his service. On September 23, 1952, he married Genevieve Mangum. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 18, 1964. Together they raised two daughters. They spent many winters in Overton, Nevada and many summers in Island Park. Genevieve died December 30, 1995. On June 30, 1999, he married Norma L. Reynolds. Together they served an LDS Temple Mission in St. George, Utah. They spent their summers in Island Park. They also managed Rainbow Lake Campground near Rexburg for 3 years. He owned and operated a janitorial business. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, bowling, traveling, and reading western novels. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Survivors include: Wife: Norma Burke, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Shelley (Gordon) Turnbow, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Sheri Lynn Burke, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: John William Burke, Basalt, ID Sister: Margaret Ann Burke, Twin Falls, ID six Grandchildren & three Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Genevieve, his son Leslie Byron Burke, three sisters, and eight brothers. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Idaho Falls LDS 14th Ward, 651 Gladstone, with Bishop Blaine Eborn officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Woodville Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
