Burton Eldon Johnson, 83, of Ucon, passed away Saturday, November 03, 2012, at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Burton was born December 22, 1928, in Victor, Idaho, to Eldon Alonzo Johnson and Velda Woolstenhulme Johnson. He was the fifth child and first son in a family of twelve. He grew up and attended school in Victor until the 8th grade. He was a great example to his family. He spent his childhood helping his Father on the family farm and in the forest logging.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in Johannesburg, South Africa. Upon returning home from his mission he was inducted into the military, where he served in the U. S. Army as a Combat Engineer and Construction Foreman in Korea.
He met his wife and eternal companion, Alta Lenora Rytting, at church in Victor, Idaho, upon his return from Korea. They were married February 10, 1957, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. They began their life together in Pocatello, Idaho, where he attended Idaho State University. He then went to Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he was the 2nd counselor in the first Ricks College Ward. They later moved to Logan, Utah, where he attended Utah State University. He graduated in 1960 with a BS in Secondary Education and Industrial Arts.
He taught school in Ogden, Utah, and then moved to Idaho Falls, where he worked for Phillips Petroleum as a Health Physicist. After four years he moved his five boys and one daughter to a farm in the Ucon area and returned to teaching at Idaho Falls High School, where he taught math, drafting and wood working. Summers were spent building homes, farming and milking cows.

Son: Aaron R Johnson (Sarah) of Idaho Falls, ID
25 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, two great granddaughters, and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at the Ucon LDS Ward, 10854 North 41 East, Ucon, Idaho, 83454, with President Davis officiating and Bishop Johnson conducting. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Ucon Cemetery.
