Burdette W. Hayes, 71, of Menan, Idaho, passed away on June 6, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born January 19, 1942, at Rigby, Idaho to Elmer Francis Hayes and Alice Lucy Collier Hayes. The family moved to Vale, Oregon where he attended schools.
On November 25, 1967, he married Sheryl Rae Hall in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They later moved to Menan where he has since resided. He worked as a sheepherder when he was young, as parts man in Idaho Falls for Service Parts, as a construction worker for Burgraff, at Max Thomas Potato Warehouse, and worked at the site.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a youth, he was active in the FFA and participated in the 4-H program, showing sheep and rabbits. As a grown up, he taught 4-H to his friends and family. Burdette also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, pigeon racing, animals, doing family history and working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Darlene Adams; 5 brothers, Beldon Hayes, Neil Hayes, Dee Hayes, Kerry Hayes, and Monte Hayes; and a son, Scott Hayes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon). The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis-Little Butte Cemetery.
