Click Here To View Memorial Video On August 8, 2014, Buddy Jack King passed away at home in Ammon, ID, surrounded by family. He was born to Muriel Nielsen and Lewis Clyde King in Brigham City, UT on March 14, 1931. Buddy did most of his schooling in Idaho Falls, ID and graduated in 1949 from Idaho Falls High School. Buddy joined the U.S. Navy in 1950. He was an aviation storekeeper at Whidbey Island, WA. and Guam. After being discharged from the Navy, he attended college at Brigham Young University (BYU) and graduated in 1957. Bud met his wife Sally Irene Saling at BYU. Sally and Buddy were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 30, 1957. Bud worked at the post office in Salt Lake City. He was hired as a game warden with the Idaho Fish and Game. He was assigned to the Island Park, Arco, Driggs, and Glenns Ferry districts. He was reassigned to the Soil Conservation Service in Ritzville, WA for a year and then moved to Nephi, UT to work for Gates Rubber Company. They moved back to Victor, ID in 1971, where he worked for the Teton Valley Hospital as a maintenance engineer. In 1977 he started work as a rural mail carrier with a route out of Victor and Driggs. He retired in 1991. After living in Teton Valley for 30 years, they moved to Ammon, ID in 2001. Buddy was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many callings. Some of these included high councilman, family history extractor, supervisor, and librarian. Buddy and Sally were stake missionaries in Victor and shortly after moving to Ammon, were called to work in the baptistry in the Idaho Falls Temple from 2001 through 2010. Some of Buddy's hobbies and interests were studying rattlesnakes, carving elk antlers and family name plaques, making canes, collecting beetles, and target shooting. He wrote articles for several Fish and Game magazines. He enjoyed genealogy, family history, and had a great love for his family and friends. Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, a step brother, and a grandson. Survivors include his wife Sally of Ammon, ID, children: Elizabeth (Jim) Gould of South Jordan, UT, Karen (Clif) Strang of Helena, MT, Karl (Debbie) King of Pocatello, ID, Mary Emerson of Worland, WY, and Jacque King of Boise, ID. He is also survived by his sisters: Mavanee (Karl) Nelson of Bountiful, UT and Sherry Mays of Ogden, UT. He has 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Ammon LDS Stake Center (2055 S. Ammon Road). The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Road) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Graveside services and interment will be at the Victor Cemetery.
