Buddy Ray Payne, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 26, 2024, four days after his 53rd wedding anniversary. He passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and three awesome kids. He was under the care of One Source Home Health & Hospice.
Bud was born December 29, 1950, in Portland, Oregon, to Dee Payne and Narlene Simons Payne. He grew up and attended schools in St. Anthony, Idaho.
On May 22, 1971, he married Cathy Ann Atwood in St. Anthony. Bud and Cathy made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Bud worked as a truck driver for Basic American Foods.
He enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, yard sales, tinkering in the shop, and playing cards. He would talk to anybody. Bud was known for his three sayings, “It is only money”; “It is what it is”; and, “It will make a turd”.
Bud is survived by his wife, Cathy Payne of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Bobby D. Payne of St. Anthony, ID; daughters, Trina LeAnn Shirley of Idaho Falls, ID, and Lesa Kay (Jade) Parker of St. Anthony, ID; sister, Judy Payne of Idaho Falls, ID; sisters, Patty Vincent of Mesa, AZ, and Vicki (Gene) Jarman of Iona, ID; many half brothers and sisters; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one fur-baby, Misty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn Heck; son-in-law, Todd Shirley; 3 grandchildren; and 2 fur-babies, Suzie and Gracie.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Loni and Pam at One Source Home Health and Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
