Bucklynn Beckett Barker

Cradled in his mother’s arms, BuckLynn Beckett Barker, 3 months old, gently passed away and returned home to our loving Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

BuckLynn “Bucky” was born on April 27, 2023, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Levi and Felicia Barker. He weighed 6 lbs, 13 oz, and was 18 inches long. BuckLynn’s parents learned that BuckLynn likely had Galactosialidosis, a rare and incurable genetic disease, when Felicia was 28 weeks pregnant. This same disease took the life of his brother, Stetson Wyatt Barker, at the tender age of five weeks old, just over two years ago. BuckLynn was only expected to live a few hours, but was born with a fighting spirit making it clear that he was here to stay for a while. Although he spent much of his short life in and out of the hospital, he was able to experience play time outside in the backyard with his 4-year old sister, Georgie, a family outing to Twin Bridges, and daily cuddles and loves from his parents and adoring sister. He enjoyed smiling, sucking on his binky, cooing conversations with mom, watching basketball and movies with dad, and of course eating! But his most favorite was blowing raspberries with mom. This is how mom got him to laugh and smile for the first time!

BuckLynn’s last day on earth was spent surrounded by maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. He refused to leave this life without a FaceTime call to his paternal side of the family. Those who met BuckLynn described him as “joyful” and a “warrior,” like his brother, Stetson. Mommy liked to call him her “little yeti” because he had a soft white hair all over his cute body. All who held him could feel his spiritual strength, felt peace and joy, and experienced a deep reverence for him. BuckLynn is greatly loved and he will be dearly missed.

BuckLynn is survived by his parents, Levi and Felicia Barker; sister, Georgina June Barker; paternal grandparents, Kim and Shauna Barker; maternal grandparents, Frank and Tammy John; great-grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. An open viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Afterwards, BuckLynn will be laid to rest next to his brother, Stetson, in a private graveside ceremony.
