Bruce Gregory Cox

Bruce Gregory Cox, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away from cardiac arrest February 27, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Bruce was born June 24, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, to Vernice Grace Erickson Cox. He grew up and attended schools in Tetonia, Idaho. He attended Eastern Idaho Technical College where he studied mechanical drafting. Everyone who knew Bruce would describe him as the most hardworking, reliable, and kind person they ever met. He dedicated 15 years of his life working at Green Valley Fertilizing and 30 years to truck driving at Doug Andrus Trucking where he later retired. Outside of work, he spent his every waking hour fixing things and helping family.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, and tinkering in his garage. He loved spending time with his family, acting as a father figure to many, including his grandchildren, Tyra and Kitira, and chosen children, Cyndie Finn and Jon Lancaster.

He could fix anything and was the first person to show up to help in an emergency. He spent most of his time fixing things in his garage, riding his Harley, teaching his grandchildren, and listening to Christmas music in July. He was extremely patriotic. He loved his country and ALL of his family above all else. He could win solitaire with his eyes closed, never picked sides in silly feuds, and made everyone he came in contact with feel loved and connected. His evenings were spent watching John Wayne movies and bickering with his loving life partner and mother of his children, Glenda Downs. Bruce is survived by his significant other, Glenda Downs; his children, Travus Cox (Tabitha James), Blake Cox, Tabatha Cox, and Matthew Cox (all of Idaho Falls, ID), Michael Browning of Twin Falls, ID, and John Browning of Garden City, ID; sisters, Lisa Lobato, Rose Baler and Cindy Cox (all of Idaho Falls, ID); countless grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter Cox, Grace Erickson-Cox; son, Jon E. Lancaster; mother, Vernice Cox-Baler; granddaughter, Christin Shawver; Dorothy Downs; Gale Downs; previous wife, Deborah Beaumont; and best friend, Rusty Puppy.
