Barbara's passion for education was not limited to the classroom. She also taught at church Sunday School, as a 4-H group leader, as a Cub Scout den leader, in summer school day camps at St. Vincent's in Salt Lake City, the YMCA in Idaho Falls, as well as the Montessori summer programs. She was an active member of the University Women and PEO organizations.
Barbara, along with Bruce, was heavily involved in not-for-profit projects for the betterment of the community. She worked at Bruce's side for the many organizations he was involved in.
Barbara's commitment to the Episcopal Church took many forms. Aside from teaching church school, she participated in and organized a variety of church functions and projects. Barbara also applied her musical talents in servicing the church through voice and guitar. Barbara was very devout in her relationship with God and the Episcopal Church. Most recently, she served as the Eastern Deanery Co-Dean. She approached her role as Dean with the same passion she had for everyone and everything she cared about in life.
Barbara is survived by sons, Zachary Turner, Nicholas and wife, Mercedes Turner; sister-in-law, Annie Turner; sister, Carol and husband, Alan Johnson; brother, Steve and wife, Linda Upton; niece, Heather and husband, Brad Herauf; and niece, Gretchen and husband, Allen Anselmo.
