Brooksie Nell Vaughan McEvers, 80, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home in Ammon, Idaho.
Brooksie was born on June 15, 1933 in Bell County, Texas, the daughter of Mr. Sanford Chappell Vaughan and Mrs. Bettie Rebecca Bridgewater Vaughan of Troy, Texas.
Brooksie graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Texas in 1951.
On April 12, 1952, she and Sergeant Ray McEvers of Burley, Idaho were married in Temple, Texas. They later moved to Hill AFB near Ogden, Utah for about three years. From Utah, they went to southern California where they would remain for the next 20 years. They would finally make their way to Idaho and settle in Ammon where both Ray and Brooksie worked at the Department of Energy (DOE) site. Brooksie was employed by a DOE contractor, Morrison & Knudsen where she worked as a paymaster. She retired in 1993 after which she and Ray would remain in Ammon. They also spent many happy summers and winters at their cabin in Island Park, Idaho.
Everyone will remember Brooksie as a warm and caring person. She truly was happiest when she was helping others. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was also a member of the LDS church, and she greatly enjoyed attending church and spending time with her church family. After living in the same home for almost 40 years, she had also become quite close with her many neighbors.
