DALLAS MURDOCH Click here to view a video of Dallas' Life SHELLEY, ID -- Brigham Dallas Murdoch, 100, of Shelley, passed away January 17, 2008, at his home of causes incident to age. He was under the care of Blackfoot Home Health & Hospice. Dallas was born June 4, 1907, at Farnum, Fremont County, Idaho, the son of Brigham and Martha Luann Hammon Murdoch. He was the second child and the first son of 10 children. Dallas attended schools at Farnum and Ashton. He was awarded a Union Pacific scholarship to the University of Idaho at Moscow, where he graduated in vocational agriculture. He taught school at Midway, Emmet and Ucon in his early years. In 1934, he married Winona Lee and they had seven children. After she passed away in 1953, he married Agnes Simonsen in 1956 and they had two daughters. He left teaching in 1939 and established Bonida Farm, where he raised purebred livestock and was active in livestock organizations. He was the president of the Idaho Swine Breeders, Idaho Pork Producers and the Idaho Sheep Breeders Associations. He took great pride in his livestock and frequently took top prizes at fairs and stock shows. His advice on farming matters was frequently sought after by others. In 1947 he moved to Lima, Montana, and continued his farming and livestock operations. Later he farmed in Grant and Roberts, returning to teaching in 1962, where he taught at Sugar City and Idaho Falls. After retiring from teaching he started Hearthside Mfg., where he produced and sold fireplace bellows nationwide. He took great pride in the quality of his product. He sold his business of 25 years just before his 90th birthday. Dallas enjoyed the out-of-doors, especially fishing in the rivers near Farnum and Ashton. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings, including Branch President, Sunday School Presidency, High Council, and officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple. He is survived by his wife, Agnes, three sons and five daughters; Helen (Ronald) Hall, Dallas E. (Joan) Murdoch, Tom (Sharon) Murdoch, Ann (Allen, deceased) Matesen, Ruth (Alan) Schulz, John (Marie) Murdoch, Mary Lou (Wayne) Versey and Luann (Ross) Dodds. He has 49 grandchildren, 135 great grandchildren, and two great great grand children; two brothers and two sisters; Tressa Garrett, Howard Murdoch, Wallace Murdoch, and Katie Lyon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winona Lee Murdoch, a son, Ronald Murdoch, and six brothers and sisters; Rue Murdoch, Blanche Reiman, Reed Murdoch, Thomas Murdoch, Jean Blanchard and Martha Reed. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Shelley LDS South Stake Center, 675 South Milton. Friends and family may call Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., both at the church. Burial will be in the Grant-Central Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls. ------------------------------------ Condolences sent online: Norina I remember him as a kind neighbor who always had the best looking lawn and gave out awesome airplane treats at Halloween.
