Brian Joseph

Brian Mathew Joseph, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his wife and devoted family.

Born on May 14, 1959, in Rockland, Maine, Brian was the cherished son of John Malcolm Joseph and Betty Jane Bickford Joseph. He spent his formative years in Sandy Spring, Maryland, where he attended school and graduated from Sherwood High School. During his high school years, Brian developed a love for football.

Brian's determined spirit led him to a fulfilling career in project management, a field where he applied his meticulous nature and dedication. Outside of work, Brian was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in skiing while breathing in the crisp air and snow-covered slopes. Fishing brought him peace, whether on a quiet lake or a roaring river, and he loved the simple pleasure of casting a line. A true culinary enthusiast, Brian loved to cook, especially when it meant sharing a meal with family and friends. His kitchen was often filled with laughter, stories, and the delicious aromas of his latest creations.

On September 4, 2004, Brian married the love of his life, Mary-Ann Duval, in the picturesque setting of Spruce Head, Maine. Together, they built a life in West Bath, Maine, where they lovingly raised their four children. Brian and Mary-Ann embraced a new chapter in Idaho Falls when their nest was empty. Here, Brian spent his golden years pursuing his passions—boating on serene waters, capturing the beauty of nature on canvas, and enjoying the camaraderie of pickleball. Most of all, he found immense joy playing with his beloved granddaughter, Harper Harding, whose laughter brought him endless happiness.

Brian leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary-Ann Joseph of Idaho Falls, ID; his loving mother, Betty Joseph; his brothers, Steve (Neva) Joseph and Alan (Jane) Joseph; his sister, MaryEllen Joseph; his children and step-children, Arthur Joseph, Benjamin Joseph, Michael (Katie) Harding, and Julia Duval; his sister-in-law, Carine Duval; and his precious granddaughter, Harper Harding. Brian was preceded in death by his father, John Malcolm Joseph.

At this time, no formal services will be held. The family invites those who knew Brian to share memories and condolences in the guestbook on this page. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honor Brian by cooking a meal for loved ones, skiing down a favorite slope, or simply boating the crystal blue waters into the sunset toasting to another memorable day—just as Brian always did.
