Brian Keith Garner, 53, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 15, 2022.
Brian was born as the New Year's Baby for Bannock County on January 1, 1969, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Keith Garner and Phyllis Hazel Henninger Garner.
Brian had a good childhood with his family in spite of his handicaps. He took after his father as a big tease and would do anything to get a laugh out of someone.
Brian was placed in a group home in Boise the summer of 1981 to acquire the professional help needed in his life to continue to learn and grow. When he aged out at 19 he was moved to Idaho Falls Group Homes. Brian ("B") lived at Idaho Falls Group Homes from July 1988 to December 2019. During this time, Brian was an active and inquisitive individual, always wanting to keep others on their toes. Brian was known for taking household appliances and packing them around, not letting anyone have them. He loved his sunglasses, watches, jewelry, and laughing at the expense of others.
In December 2019, Brian moved into a home where he received services through Grand Teton Human Services. Brian continued his shenanigans and expanded his many collections of sunglasses, watches, jewelry, and nail polish. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Brian's laugh was contagious, and his smile would light up a room. He had a way of making everyone's day brighter.
Brian is survived by his sister Shelley Kay Jones, his nieces and nephews and best friends, Marie, Pam, Colter, Josh and Jason. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Teresa Ann.
We would like to thank Boise Group Homes, Idaho Falls Group Homes, Grand Teton Human Services, Kathy Hansen, and the Bonneville County Board of Community Guardians for their many years of service. We would like to express our gratitude and thanks to the many staff who worked with Brian over the years.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, Idaho Falls, Idaho. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Ammon Cemetery, 5226 E Sunnyside Road, Ammon, Idaho.
Part of Brian's ashes will be interred at the Ammon Cemetery and part will be interred at the Wilford Cemetery next to his parents and sister.
