Brent Wirkus

Brent E. Wirkus, 57, of Sugar City, Idaho, passed away June 14, 2018, at the University of Utah Hospital from a sudden illness. Brent was born October 25, 1960, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Jared Henoch Wirkus and Colleen Nielson Wirkus. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Business and Marketing. His father passed away when he was 18 years old. On October 18, 2008, he married Nancy McBride in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. From this union, Brent was blessed with Nancy’s five sons, Preston, Matt, Jamin, Cyrus and Kason. Brent and Nancy made their home in Sugar City, Idaho, where Brent was a rancher. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brent served in many capacities including in the Bishopric. He enjoyed cattle ranching in Bone, Idaho, riding four-wheelers, and spending time outdoors. He farmed in Ammon, was a sales rep for Carpenter Paper, and worked in real estate. Brent is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Wirkus of Sugar City, ID; son, Preston (Corin) Pugmire of Rexburg, ID; son, Matthew (Ashley) Pugmire of Atlanta, GA; son, Jamin (fiancé, Aubrey) Kidd of Sugar City, ID; son, Cyrus (fiancé, Felicia) Kidd of Sugar City, ID; son, Kason Kidd of Sugar City, ID; sister, Becky Wirkus Brighton of Sugar City, ID; brother, Wayne J. Wirkus of Ammon, ID; sister, Janet Wirkus of Ammon, ID; sister, Jerrie Wirkus Hurd of Boulder, CO; sister, Sharen Wirkus of Sandy, UT; sister, Karen Wirkus Foulk of Sugar Land, TX; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Mill Hollow 2nd Ward, 475 East 7th North in Rexburg, with Bishop Terry Anderson officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday, June 24th, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, June 25th, from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
