Brent "Butch Schofield" Schofield

Brent Gale Schofield, 64, of Rigby, passed away October 24, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born March 15, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Gale Joseph Schofield and Leah Violet Moore Schofield. Brent was the second of five children. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1966. In 1968 he served a tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in March of 1970. He was rewarded Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device and the Bronze Star. On November 30, 1973, he married Melody Ann Cox in Jackson, Wyoming. With this marriage Brent became a father of Melody's two girls, Kamala and TaRee. The family was rounded out with two boys, Roy and Matthew. Brent and Melody (Butch and Mel as they were fondly known), lived in Ammon, Shelley, Leadore, and most recently Rigby. Brent worked at the INL for thirty six years – starting with the mail room and retiring as a service tech in the bus shop. Upon retiring Brent and Melody moved to the DD Ranch south of Leadore, Idaho. This was a journey of a lifetime, they were in heaven on earth. Brent fenced, watered, calved, branded, and loved every minute of working with his son, Matthew. Brent was an accomplished leatherman and loved to fish, golf, and tie flies. He was an avid horseman and rancher. Brent was proceeded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Barbra and Don Beason, and a son-in-law, Tyler Hampton. Brent is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Melody Schofield, siblings, Debbie (Chuck) Skillman of Washington, Doug (Darla) Schofield, Keith (Lily) Schofield of Idaho Falls, children, Kamala Hampton of Shelley, TaRee Brocksome of Idaho Falls, Roy (Jaelene) Hubler of Rigby, and Matthew (Mandy) Schofield of Idaho Falls; grandchildren, Jackson (Destiny) Hampton, Chelsey (Tyson) Nef, BaiLee Hampton, Chloe Hampton, TyRell Schofield, Rainey Hampton, Morgan Nate, Riley Schofield, MaKenna Hubler, Chayse Hubler, great-grandchildren, Kimber, Anya, Jessie Hampton and Degan Nef, a very close nephew, Danny Schofield and his family. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday October 27, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Steve DeMott officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard immediately following the services. Upon Brent’s request, he has chosen to be cremated and his ashes will be scattered at a later date.
