Brent Hirschi, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 30, 2017, at MorningStar Senior Living Center. He was under the care of his loving family and Encompass Home Health & Hospice.

Brent was born March 3, 1935, in Salem, Idaho, to John Henry Hirschi and Florence Mabel Peterson Hirschi. When he was 7, the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where he grew up and attended school.

At the age of 19, he was called to serve a 30-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central America. After his mission, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Fort Ord, California.

On August 29, 1958, he married Evelyn Elsie Owens in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born eight children: Teri Linn, Coleen, Owen, Eric, Mark, Holli, Kathi, and Kristi. They also cared for a number of foster children, including Cody, whom they adopted to complete their family. Brent and Evelyn made their home in Pocatello, Idaho, where he served as a police officer. Later, Brent built a business as a dental lab technician in Idaho Falls and lived with his family in homes in Idaho Falls, Ammon, and Milo.

Brent was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings. His favorites included bishoprics and his time in Scouting. Brent was able to serve a family history mission with his dear Evelyn in the Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Mission. He was dedicated to family history and temple work. He enjoyed fishing and designing and creating original artwork.

Brent is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Evelyn Hirschi of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Coleen (Samuel) Madsen of Ammon, ID; son, Owen (Laurie) Hirschi of St. Anthony, ID; son, Eric (Melissa) Hirschi of Benton City, WA; son, Mark (Jennifer) Hirschi of Boise, ID; daughter, Holli (Frank) Prior of Benton City, WA; daughter, Kathi Hirschi of Ammon, ID; daughter, Kristi Hirschi of Ammon, ID; son, Cody Hirschi of Ammon, ID; Brent was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Hirschi; daughter, Teri Linn Hirschi; and all of his brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Ammon West Stake Center, 2055 Coronado, with Bishop Nate Hunsaker officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
