The family of Brent Merle Ferguson, of Ririe, Idaho, are saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at his home in Idaho Falls. His family was blessed to live close by, to spend the last months, days, and special moments with him while building lasting memories.
Brent was born March 5, 1946, in Rigby, Idaho, to Jesse Merle Ferguson and Dorothy Mildred Clark Ferguson. He was the middle child with an older brother, Thayne, and a younger sister, Janet. He grew up and attended schools in Ririe, and graduated from Ririe High School.
Brent was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas. He served honorably from November 1956 to November 1971. On September 22, 1967, he married Anita Lucille Mitchell in Wichita Falls, Texas. They made their homes in Idaho, Nevada, and Colorado before settling in Ririe where they lived for 37 years. They were blessed with three children - a daughter, Donna, and two sons, Brett and Gerald.
Brent earned a living at many jobs including Mikami Brothers Potatoes, Gateway Service, Pillsbury Company, and Skaggs. He was the owner of T&T Auto Parts in Ririe and retired from Premiere Supply in Rigby. Brent was a member of the Ririe City Council and active with local politics. He enjoyed poker games with his friends, fishing, hunting, model trains, sitting on his back porch, working in his yard and decorating it with gnomes, which were among his latest collection.
Anita passed away in June of this year and took a giant piece of Brent's heart with her. Before she passed, he told her that he would see her soon. He was certainly right about that. They are now reunited and together once again.
Brent is survived by his son, Brett (Taunya) Ferguson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Donna (Casey) Hill of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Thayne Ferguson of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Janet Lindberg of Idaho Falls, ID; eight grandchildren: Ian, Isaac, Jace, Nicole (Clay), Hannah, Ryan, Brysen, and Ella; and two great-granddaughters, Mia and Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Dorothy Ferguson; wife, Anita Ferguson; son, Gerald Ferguson; and great grandson, Liam Wasden.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, Ririe, Idaho, with Jason Averill officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Air Force Honor Guard.
