James Brent Evans, 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 12, 2015, at his home.
Brent was born June 6, 1944, in Rexburg, Idaho, the third child of James LaVere Evans and Hazel Berniece Smith Evans. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby, Idaho. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, during Vietnam. He earned his GED while in the Army.health reasons. Brent enjoyed growing tomatoes. Brent was a “tinkerer.” He was a great handyman and could repair anything.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed snow machines, 4-wheeling, fishing, and especially his dogs Sara, Charlie, and
He married the love of his life, Linda Louise Kelley, on January 25, 1962. He told her frequently how much she meant to him. They were blessed with two children, Shane and Tammy.
He was self employed as a truck driver for most of his life. He retired due to Emma.
Brent is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Evans of Idaho Falls;
daughter, Tammy Moore of Idaho Falls, ID;
two brothers, Karl (Pat) Evans and David Evans;
four sisters, LaNece (Randy) Tanner, Judy (Roy) Ellis, Trudy (Mark) Walters, and Brenda Evans;
five grandchildren, Tory Moore, Teigen (Kinzee) Moore, Tarieka (Matt) Moore, Corey (Jericka) Evans, and Danial Evans;
and four great grandchildren, Zaiden, Zyker, Lily, and Ty, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Shane, and a grandson, Casey Evans.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Humane Society of Idaho Falls, 444 N Eastern Ave, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will meet with friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, and Monday from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the church. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
