IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Bradley Mervin Gardner, 50, of Idaho Falls, died February 8, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a stroke.

He was born July 14, 1955, in Idaho Falls, to Mervin Jessie Gardner and Artie Lee Musselman Gardner. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Skyline High School in 1973. He continued his education at Ricks College, then attended Idaho State University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Debbie Hadley in Idaho Falls and they were later divorced. He then married Frannie Garcia Parkinson and they have been married for eight years. He was a Senior Advisor Systems Engineer. While working for Batelle Energy Alliance of INL he was an inventor and recipient of eight United States Patents with an additional pending. He worked as a project leader for Active Protective Systems for the Department of Defense. He was the founder of the Bridge to Braves Fun Run. He was on the City Planning Commission and a member of the Astronomy Club. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, Scouting program, and was a Priesthood leader at Girls Camp, where he taught rapelling and lead the Adventure Camp, as well as the Table Rock hikes. He served a full-time mission as a young man to the Minnesota, Minneapolis / St.Paul Mission. Brad was active in promoting astronomy in the community. He was a marathon runner and loved to climb the Grand Tetons. He enjoyed racquetball, fishing, hunting, camping, hang gliding, bungie jumping, scuba diving, and motorcycles. Brad loved his family and spending time with his sons and daughter. He also loved traveling with his wife. Survivors are his wife: Frannie Gardner of Idaho Falls; son: Steven (Chelsea) Gardner of Idaho Falls; son: Ryan Gardner of Idaho Falls; son: Bob (Jen) Parkinson of Afton, WY; son: Ben (Kim) Parkinson of Montpelier, ID; son: Chad Parkinson of Idaho Falls; daughter: Rachael Parkinson of Idaho Falls; granddaughter: Madison Gardner . . . and another grandchild on the way father: Mervin Gardner of Idaho Falls; sister: Linda (Brad) Johnson of Idaho Falls; sister: Tami (Mark) Lords of Idaho Falls sister: Toni (Sophie) Gardner of Southern California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Artie Lee Gardner, and his grandparents. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, at the Idaho Falls LDS West Stake Center, 2040 Brentwood Drive, with Bishop Dennis Reilly of the Templeview Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and for one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park. The family suggests donations be made to: Development Workshop, 555 West 25th Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83402.
