Brad L. Thompson, 75, of Idaho Falls, caught his last fish on November 21, 2024, at the great feeder gate in Ririe.
Eldest son, born to Stayner L and Dorothy B. Thompson, on October 12, 1949, in Brigham city, Utah, where he grew up. He graduated from Box Elder High School then attended one year at College of Southern Utah. He worked from 1965-1968 for his dad at Thompson Hardware Store and moved to Idaho Falls in the early 70's.
He worked as a ranch hand and in maintenance, and many aspects of the floor covering business. Retiring was not his style. He kept on going as a handy man to the end.
At eight years old, his dad gave him the choice of going to Sunday School with his mom or duck hunting with him. And so began his love of nature, fishing, hunting, and camping. He had many loved dogs. He loved tying flies and he was very good at it. He loved going for drives with no destination and hanging out with his friends. He loved cooking his wild game and creating his spirits.
Brad was a fixer of stuff, always busy renewing lawn mowers, sewing machines, bicycles for neighborhood kids, and fishing poles for free fishing days for kids. If someone was in need, he did what he could to be there for them. He had several boxes put together with household items for those getting their first place or those starting over. During his lifetime, he belonged to the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Ducks Unlimited, and The Eagles. Brad was a man of strong character.
He is remembered by all who remain, including his wife Lisa Rowberry Thompson; mother, Dorothy B. Thompson of Kaysville, UT; brothers, Kirk L (Maureen) Thompson of Port Angeles, WA, and Roy Thompson of Kuaui, HI; nephew, Ken (Marci) Thompson of Kaysville, UT; stepdaughter, Naomi Niles of Silver Cliff, CO; and many great nieces and nephews, as well as a multitude of friends and loved pets.
Those who went before him include his father, Stayner L. Thompson; paternal grandparents, Roy L and LaVon S. Thompson and great grandparents, William H. and Rhoda H.R. Stayner; maternal grandparents Stanley H. and Christy Whitaker Bradshaw; and maternal great grandparents, Ira Elsey and Marian Hinton Bradshaw; and many cherished friends.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring. Details will be passed along through word of mouth.
