Boyd Mathews

Boyd Mathews, 82, longtime resident of Idaho Falls, passed away January 8, 2011 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Boyd was born June 13, 1928 in Shelley, Idaho, to Heber Grant Mathews and Ruth Luella McBride Mathews. He was a graduate of Shelley High School. He married Anna Lu Warner on May 28, 1955 in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls where he worked as a driver for Consolidated Freightways. He later worked for School District 91 and for Hertz. Anna Lu preceded him in death on June 8, 1988. He married Jeanette Kinghorn Lawson on June 1, 1989 in Idaho Falls. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Idaho Falls Chuckers and Utah Jazz fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: Wife: Jeanette Kinghorn Lawson Mathews, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Becky Walz, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Bonnie (Mark) Peterson, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Bruce (Kim) Mathews, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Beverly (Kenneth) Whetstone, West Valley City, UT Son: Kirk (Tracy) Lawson, Farr West, UT Son: Stephan (Julie) Lawson, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Kristine (Brad) Stark, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Jerry Lawson, Draper, UT Son: Jason Lawson, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Dale Mathews, Shelley, ID Sister: Louise Stone, Burley, ID Sister: Alice Harder, Shelley, ID 37 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Lu Warner Mathews; brothers, Ivan Mathews, Lewis Mathews, Luke Mathews; and sister, Marjorie Farrer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Idaho Falls LDS Taylor Mountain Stake Bldg., 260 Castlerock Lane, with Bishop Neil Russell officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be at the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made at any branch of The Bank of Commerce.
