Boyd Kroll

Myron Boyd Kroll, 89, of Ucon, passed away September 24, 2010, at the Boise Health and Rehabilitation Center in Boise, Idaho. He was born June 5, 1921, in Rigby, Idaho, to Carl Martin Kroll and Mary Jane Thomas Kroll. He was raised and attended school in Rigby. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 and was trained as a machinist. He served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He continued his career in the U.S. Navy for 34 years and retired from active duty in the Navy in 1978 as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy. Boyd married the love of his life, Dorothy Ritchie, on January 31, 1942. They lived in many places in the United States due to his military assignments. They built a home in Ucon after his retirement. Dorothy and Boyd enjoyed 62 years together. She preceded him in death on September 25, 2004. He enjoyed his life, especially his retirement. Boyd deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Boyd’s duty assignments allowed he and Dorothy to travel and sightsee as a principle of pleasure. He enjoyed building and repairing machinery in his home machine shop, animals and nature, and taking day trips with his wife and grandchildren. He is survived by two sons, Wayne (Marilyn) Kroll of Idaho Falls, ID, Richard (Deb) Kroll of Ucon, ID; one daughter, Patricia Bateman of Boise, ID; 5 grandchildren, Heather (Rocky) Turner, Shannon Kroll, Leslie (Tony) Littel, Carl Wayne (Jessica) Kroll, Jr., Lacie Lane; five great grandchildren, Braden Turner, Madison Turner, Devany Turner, Harrison Littel, and Kayla Lane. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years; his parents; a brother, Wesley; and two sisters, Elda and Meryl. He will be greatly missed. Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Ucon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge.
