Boyd Brown Cole, 68, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 27, 2014, at his home of natural causes.
Boyd was born July 21, 1946, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Leonard LeRoy Cole and Sarah Veion Brown Cole. He grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School. He also attended Ricks College and Purdue University in Indiana.
Boyd served as a First Class Petty Officer in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
On October 27, 1967, he married Karen Rudd in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born five children, Mark, Christy, Dianne, Brad, and Lisa. Boyd and Karen made their home in Rexburg, where Boyd worked at the INL as a welder. He then took over Cole Blacksmith following the passing of his father. He was then self employed and in 1993, they moved to Idaho Falls, where they have lived ever since.
Boyd was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities over the years, including Young Men President, counselor in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum President, and High Priest Group Leader. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, sports, gardening, his family and numerous friends, and was devoted to his faith.
Boyd is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen Cole of Idaho Falls, ID;
son, Mark Roy (Patti) Cole of Idaho Falls, ID,
son, Brad James (Becky) Cole of Idaho Falls, ID,
daughter, Lisa (Dave) Fassnacht of Idaho Falls, ID,
sister, Colleen Blanchard of Chester, ID, and
14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Veion, two daughters, Christy Barnard and Dianne Cole, a grandson, Grady Barnard, and a sister, Ranae Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Idaho Falls LDS Skyline Ward, 2345 West 17th South, with Bishop Brett Webb officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Plano Cemetery.
Military Rites will be performed by the Madison County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
