Bonnie Lea Henricksen, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 27, 2019, at her home.
Bonnie was born December 25, 1943, to John Rulon Henricksen and Margarette Veletta (McKenna) Henricksen in Rexburg, Idaho. After the war and the loss of her father, the family moved to Idaho Falls. She was a cute little girl that always wished she was magic. She went to Riverside Elementary and OE Bell Junior High until the 8th Grade. At that time, there were no special needs programs, so her mother kept her home and did the best that she could with her.
Bonnie always wanted to be with her family, especially her sister, Glenda, whom she called “Giget.” Glenda was Bonnie’s everything and loved her to the moon and back.
As a young adult, Bonnie became a little bit of a wild child. Going places and doing things she shouldn’t have. She met her boyfriend, Roy, and was with him for 30+ years. Her mother’s health declined and she was no longer able to care for Bonnie. Bonnie went to Good Samaritan where they cared for her for eight years. After her mother passed away, Bonnie went to live with her sister, Glenda. She was a handful so shortly after that, she went to live with her niece, Lauri Kyle, who was one of Bonnie’s biggest blessings. Lauri took amazing care of Bonnie for 14 years and was Bonnie’s angel.
Everyone who knew Bonnie had a story or two. She was one of a kind. She is our silly little angel now and free from her earthly struggles. She will be missed by so many. You are with our family of angels, so spread your wings and fly. You are magic now.
Bonnie is survived by her sister, Glenda Bates; brother, Darrell Henricksen; many nieces and nephews; special thank you to Bonnie’s niece and caregiver, Lauri Kyle, whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Geredine Hartshorn and Sharon Fay Henricksen; brother, Larry Henricksen; sister-in–law, Patsy Piram Henricksen; and niece, Carol Hartshorn Ribis.
The family would like to thank the Adventure Center where Bonnie attended programs a few days a week. Also, Helping Hands for their transportation.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. October 10, 2019, at the Ammon Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Adventure Center or any special needs programs.
