Bonnie Harker

Our sweet wife, mother, sister and grandmother Bonnie Beth Millward Harker, passed away April 21, 2013, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family. Her devoted sweetheart Yale Harker was by her side, just as he has been for the last 54 years. Bonnie was born in Fairview, Star Valley, Wyoming, on May 23, 1941, to Thelma Ivy Crapo and Andrew Cleon Millward, one of ten children. When she was three years old, her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where she grew up and made many wonderful memories and friends, graduating from Pocatello High School in 1959. Bonnie and Yale were married on August 20, 1959, and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Cleveland, Ohio, Moreland, Idaho, and Fort Collins, Colorado, before settling in Idaho Falls, where they built a joyful life together raising their family, spoiling their grandchildren, and racing across the countryside in their restored vintage cars (with their little dog, Jazz). An artistic spirit, Bonnie made everything in our lives beautiful. She loved drawing and painting, gardening, writing poetry, cake decorating, and floral arranging. She made hundreds of elaborate wedding cakes and sugar Easter eggs, and taught cake-decorating classes for many years. Like her father, she found joy in nature's simple, profound beauties: rainstorms, quaking aspen, sunsets, seashells, mountain streams and meadows. She loved to go on walks with her children and grandchildren and marvel at our Heavenly Father's creations. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bonnie was a compassionate and kind-hearted soul who rendered Christ-like service to many. She particularly enjoyed serving as a stake missionary with her eternal companion, Yale. Bonnie's greatest treasure is her family. She is survived by her husband, her five children: Shane (Cynthia) Harker, Portland, OR; Mike (Sandra) Harker, Powell, WY; Julie (Mike) Walker, Provo, UT; David Harker, Idaho Falls; and Dan (Tessa) Harker, Murray, UT; 15 grandchildren: Allyn, Erik, Blaine, Cory, Jason, Savannah, Stephen, Alex, Austen, Jordon, Brandon, Jessica, Zaya, Remington, and Magnolia; sisters Laila Sorensen, Carolyn Johnson, JoAnne Belk, and LaWan Caldwell, and brothers Steve Millward, and Dwight Millward. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gene Millward and Loraine Millward, sister Ivy Ray and granddaughter Kathryn. A viewing will be held Friday, April 26, 2013, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Park Taylor Ward Chapel, 1291 West 6500 South, Idaho Falls. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of Eastern Idaho and members of the Park Taylor LDS Ward for their loving care and support in the past weeks. We grieve at the passing of this kind, gracious and beautiful soul but rejoice to know that Bonnie has been made whole again, regaining all of the sweet memories of her life and the love that surrounded her. We know that she has returned to her heavenly home and is surrounded by love, music, laughter and family.
