Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that my life may only be a radiance of yours. IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Bonnie Faye Decker, 78, died June 9, 2008, at her home in Lewisville, Idaho. She was born October 30, 1929, in Lubbock, Texas, to R. B. and Alma Miller. They lived in Lubbock until she was 6 years old, and then moved to Anton, Texas, where they lived in an apartment on the 2nd floor of a hotel; her father barbered there. She started first grade and recalls her mother keeping her hair in Shirley Temple finger curls. When she was 10 years old, her family moved to Fence Lake, New Mexico, to farm pinto beans; her grandparents and uncles lived there as well. She had many fond memories from the fun and experiences of those years playing with her cousins and living the “Little House on the Prairie” lifestyle. Occasionally the small community would gather at the one room school house where they would dance to piano and fiddle and play baseball when time allowed. Being born in the year of the stock market crash of 1929 and growing up in the depression that followed, her family dealt with having little or no money and making things last as long as possible. Bonnie attended school at Clovis New Mexico High School. She had outstanding grades and enjoyed dances and other activities. After high school, her family moved to Washington. It was there that she met and married Paul Clements in 1949. They had a son Michael in 1950 and had a daughter Linda in 1952. They enjoyed outdoor activities and square dancing. Paul and Bonnie parted in 1972, but were friends for life. Bonnie went to work for Argonne in Idaho Falls, where she met the love of her life, Melvin Earl “Ted” Decker. Ted and Bonnie were married in 1985 and spent their life in bliss on their farm in Lewisville. Although their children were grown, they enjoyed the blending of their families into one family of seven children with grandchildren to follow. From her early years, Bonnie was raised to have a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. Those around her knew the fervor she felt in living a life dedicated to loving Jesus and service to others. She brought unbound joy into many lives. Bonnie always said, “I don’t know a stranger.” Few people come into our lives and make things shine, but Bonnie is one of those rare and splendid jewels who made the whole world bright. When we’re sad, she made us smile. When we felt alone and blue, she was there for us, and she made us feel strong enough to accomplish anything. She will be missed and remembered dearly. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Melvin Earl “Ted” Decker of Lewisville, ID, and their family: Michael E. Clements and Linda A. (Michael) Laky, both of Boise, ID; Donald (Dona) Decker, Connally (Shauna) Decker, Jackeline Clawson Decker, all of Lewisville, ID; Steven (Autumn) Decker, Ucon, ID; Laurie (Raleigh) Berrett, Menan, ID. She and Ted enjoyed 32 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren . . . and counted many friends as family. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June14, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday for one hour prior to services, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery in Blackfoot, under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. --------------------------------------------- Condolences Received Online: Alice Stewart pakal2005@yahoo.com We are deeply saddened at your loss.
