BOB WHITNEY IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Bobby Jay “Bob” Whitney, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away August 14, 2005, at his home. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. He was born October 18, 1924, in Boise, Idaho, to Newell K. Whitney and Bertye Decker Whitney. He grew up and attended schools in Boise. He served as a Tech Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He married Gloria Faye Rhoades July 22, 1953, in Winnemucca, Nevada. They lived in McCall, Idaho, from 1961 to 1986, when they moved to Idaho Falls. He worked as a lineman for Idaho Power until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club and V.F.W. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding with his son in his big truck, playing Santa Claus, and watching baseball. Bob adored his grandchildren, Bobbi (Lance) Hughes, Annette Reed, Richard (Celina) Bierma, Jr., and adopted granddaughter, Michelle Mathers. Surviving are: His Wife: Gloria Faye Whitney of Idaho Falls Daughter: Deborah Whitney of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Bobby (Judy) Whitney II of Idaho Falls, ID Adopted Daughter: Lynn (Keith) Mathers of Arlington, WA Brother: Newell K. “Jack) Whitney, Jr. of Boise, ID 4 Grandchildren & 9 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Zoe Byrne, and two brothers, Boyd Whitney and Wallace Whitney. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005, at the Idaho Falls Calvary Chapel, 4250 South 25th East, with Pastor Rick Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, and Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
