Bob Smith

Wrolf Robert "Bob" Smith, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 9, 2018, at the Idaho State Veterans Home. He was under the care of his loving family and Heritage Home Health & Hospice. Bob was born January 1, 1925, in Iona, Idaho, to James Thomas Smith and Mildred Fern Atkins Smith. He grew up and attended schools in Iona and attended Eastern Idaho Vo-Tech. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army during World War II and Luzon. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Campaign Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and a Good Conduct ribbon. On May 29, 1954, he married Maxine Chloie Crow in Iona, Idaho. To this union were born six children, Trudy, Benny, Patsy, Richard, Timothy and Kellis. Bob and Maxine made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Bob was a cowboy and worked for U&I Sugar Factory. Maxine passed away January 18, 2015. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses, cattle and spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his daughter, Trudy Smith of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Benny (Teresa) Smith of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Patsy Smith-Licano of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Richard Smith of Rigby, ID; son, Timothy (Lorrie) Smith of Rigby, ID; son, Kellis (Jennifer) Smith of Rigby, ID; sister, Ione (Keith) Hackwell of Boise, ID; brother, Royce Smith of Challis, ID; sister, Dixie Hunting of Iona, ID; sister, Peggy McCurdy of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mildred Smith; wife, Maxine Smith; sister, JoAnn Peterslie; and brothers, Jim and JT Smith. The Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard will perform Military Rites for family and friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the Iona Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
