Blaine Reese Petersen, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 8, 2013, at his home of natural causes. Blaine was born October 3, 1937, in Ferron, Utah, to Alma S. Petersen and Vivian Bertha Pettey Petersen. He spent his early years in Ferron, then moved with his family to Dragerton, Utah. He graduated from Carbon County High School. He then moved to San Manuel, Arizona. He attended BYU and served a full-time LDS Mission to Denmark. Following his mission he returned to San Manuel and attended the Arizona Institute of Electronics. He lived briefly in Tucson, Arizona, before coming to Idaho Falls 47 years ago. On April 10, 1964, he married Eva Mortensen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they had three children, Brian, Kevin, and Robert. They made their home in Tucson, Arizona, for one year before returning to Idaho Falls, where they have since resided. Blaine worked as Production Manager for KIFI TV8. Eva passed away January 8, 2013. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Ward Bishopric, as a High Councilman, High Priest Group Leader, Ward Financial Clerk, and Temple Ordinance Worker. He enjoyed gardening, golf, fishing, trips to Yellowstone Park, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Blaine is survived by Son, Brian (Dawna) Petersen of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Kevin Petersen of Idaho Falls, ID; Son, Robert (Julie) Petersen of Eagle Mountain, UT; 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Brother, Howard (Cathy) Petersen of Richfield, UT; Brother, Allan (Sylvia) Coker of Phoenix, AZ; Brother, Richard Coker of Salt Lake City, UT; Sister, Doris Kalani of Lake Forest, CA; Sister, Peggy (Craig) Kasper of Buena Park, CA; He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eva, a brother, Sherril Petersen, and a sister, Elaine Petersen. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 3rd Ward, 2025 Jennie Lee Drive, with Bishop Carroll Perkes officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
