William Edward Tapp, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away at his home March 27, 2026. He was under the care of Eden Home Health and Hospice and his loving family.
Bill was born August 5, 1955, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Luther Edward Tapp and Maxine Brown Tapp.
Bill attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. He spent many hours of his life at Highland Park baseball field. Bill and his friends would “shag balls” at the baseball field to make a few cents. Their group of friends were named the “Ball Shaggers.” The friendships Bill made at the ball field would last the rest of his life.
Bill moved to California in the 1970's. There he spent time skiing, golfing, and spending time at the beach. Bill and his father ran a produce stand with his sister, Marylyn, Dave, and his beautiful niece he adored. He also drove truck for Western Conference Teamsters Union. After a couple years living in Colorado, Bill moved back to Idaho Falls to care for his aging parents.
In 1994, Bill met the love of his life, Beth Burgess. Bill was introduced to Beth by one of the “Ball Shaggers.” Beth had three young girls who she, Bill, and the girls’ dad, Brad Toomer, worked together to raise. Bill and Beth were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 5, 2007.
Once back in Idaho Falls, Bill worked for Quality Produce for his best friends, Jimmy and Mary Charbenaeu. When Quality Produce closed, Bill and his dad brokered potatoes. Bill went to work for H&K Contractors until he retired in 2020.
The light of Bill’s life were his grandchildren. From the first to the last, they all captured his heart. From 4th of July’s at the river, parades, camping trips, dance recitals, and everything in between, Bill was always there to support them and make lasting memories.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Marilyn Young; Marsha Egbert; Wesley Egbert; grandson, Baby Hendrix; and his grandparents.
Bill is survived by his wife, Beth; his three girls, Brooke Toomer, Jenni (Todd) Loveland, and Laura (Cade) Jones; brother-in-law, Dave Young; niece, Brandy Young and Brandy’s Dave; great nephew, Wyatt; niece, Katrina and her family; nephew, Gabe Olmedo; and 12 grandchildren.
A gathering for friends and family will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.
