William Howard "Bill" Morehead, 83, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away December 6, 2017, at his home in Ammon. He was under the care of his wife Elaine with the help of Hands of Hope Hospice. Bill was born May 12, 1934, in Tucson, Arizona, to Howard Abraham Morehead and Geneva Mural McGinty Morehead. He grew up and attended schools in Arizona and Oregon and graduated from Tucson High School. Following his graduation, he served four years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He also attended Utah State University and Brigham Young University, and earned his Master’s Degree in Education Media at BYU. On June 15, 1962, he married Elaine Merrill in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born eight children, Teralee, Robert, Diane, Janice, LeAnn, Michael, Jill, and Ryan. Bill and Elaine made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Bill worked as a seminary teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Malad, Idaho, and at Skyline High School and was the director of the special needs seminary. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in the Eastern States Mission. He enjoyed teaching Gospel Doctrine class for many years and serving in stake callings and as a Bishop and as a counselor in two bishoprics. He served a mission with his wife in Gunnison, Utah, at the state correctional facility, and at the Family History Center in Idaho Falls. They also served as temple ordinance workers. He loved music and was always humming or whistling a song. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine Morehead of Ammon, ID; daughter, Teralee (Gary) Snyder of Peterson, UT; son, Robert (Kristi) Morehead of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Janice (Tom) Burger of Honeyville, UT; daughter, LeAnn (Jason) Atwood of Ammon, ID; son, Michael (Shawna) Morehead of Layton, UT; daughter, Jill (Jeff) Fullmer of Ammon, ID; son, Ryan (Suzanne) Morehead of Lehi, UT; son-in-law, Eric (Kami) Conrad of Laie, HI; sister, Sharoline Deckard of Tulsa, OK; 52 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Mural Morehead, father, Howard Abraham Morehead, daughter, Diane Conrad, brother, Eugene Adams, sister, Vivian LaFary. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9th, at Mountain View LDS Church, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Jeff Clifford of the Idaho Falls LDS Grandview Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 12:00 Noon to 12:45 p.m. Saturday prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.

Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Navy Honor Guard.
