Bill Meppen

William Alma "Bill" Meppen, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 18, 2018, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Bill was born May 11, 1934, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Louis August Meppen and Melda Bingham Meppen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. On June 15, 1955, he married Beverly Jean Young in Idaho Falls, Idaho. To this union were born three children, Robert, Karla, and Stephen. Bill and Jean made their home in Idaho Falls where Bill worked as a truck driver in road construction. He was a Born Again Christian. He enjoyed trips to Jackpot, coffee with his buddies, John Deere tractors, mowing his lawn, farm work, and spending time with his family. Bill will always be remembered as "Grampy" by his grandchildren. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Beverly Jean Meppen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Robert (Glenda) Meppen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Karla (Scot) Marsh of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren, 38 extended grandchildren, and 48 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen William Meppen; brother, Louis Meppen, Jr.; great granddaughter, LaNeigha Meppen; great grandson, Ethan Shepherd; and extended grandson, John Middleton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Pastor Kenny McMurphy of the Cross Point Community Church officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
