Bill DeMott - 06/11/2002 Bill DeMott - 06/11/2002 BILL DeMOTT IDAHO FALLS, ID -- William Joseph “Bill” DeMott, 65, prominent businessman of Idaho Falls, died June 10, 2002, at his farm west of Idaho Falls. He was born September 24, 1936, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Joseph Bergen DeMott and Catherine Afton Blackburn DeMott. He grew up in Rexburg and attended schools there. He graduated from Madison High School in 1954, where he excelled in basketball and was part of the team that won the 1954 Class A Basketball Championship. He received an undergraduate degree from Idaho State University in Business. He served in the R.O.T.C. while attending the university, followed by service in the U. S. Army, from which he was honorably discharged upon the death of his father. On October 1, 1965, he married Mary Lou Taylor in Rexburg. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 2, 1979. He was President and General Manager of DeMott Tractor in Idaho Falls, and was part owner of Farmers Equipment in Rexburg. Bill was a founding shareholder of the Bank of Idaho, where he served on the Board of Directors and was Chairman of the Executive Loan Committee. He also managed DeMott Farms for over twenty years. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various callings over the years, including counselor in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum President, and Sunday School President. He was an avid reader of military history and loved to be outdoors fishing, hunting, and playing golf. His wife, children, and granddaughters, Jessica, Melissa, and Natalie, were very special to him. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2002, at the Idaho Falls LDS Taylor Mountain Stake Center, 260 Castlerock, with Bishop Jeff Stark of the Idaho Falls LDS Rose Park Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402-4092.
