Our precious mother, grandmother, and sister, Beverly White Packer, age 80, former longtime resident of Idaho Falls, passed away December 17, 2010, at her home in Alpine, Utah, of natural causes. Beverly was born March 27, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to John Wesley White and Effie Myrle Miller White. She grew up in Idaho Falls, attended Eastside Elementary and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She also attended Brigham Young University. Beverly married Grant Peck Packer, Jr., on November 19, 1948, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Rexburg while Grant finished his Bachelors Degree at Ricks College, then moved to Idaho Falls where they raised their nine children. She spent the past year in Alpine, Utah to be closer to her three youngest children and their families. Beverly loved taking care of her family and devoted herself to them. In addition to raising her family and working in the community, Bev was a secretary and bookkeeper for their family businesses. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Beverly served in the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidencies and as a teacher and dedicated Visiting Teacher. She was actively involved in PTA for 22 years while her children were in school and served as PTA President or Room Mother at various schools. She served as President of the Bonneville County Republican Women and was the first female Chairman of the Bonneville County Central Committee. Beverly was inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame, attended the Governor's Conference on Children, was a delegate to the Republican National Convention for Ronald Reagan, and received the Good Samaritan Award. She loved her family, service, music, reading, genealogy, and travel. Surviving are: Daughter: Gloria (Brent) Bradshaw of Idaho Falls, Idaho Daughter: Peggy (Stan) Stallings of Littleton, Colorado Son: John (Anette) Packer of Newport Beach, California Son: Kent (Mini) Packer of Kirtland, Ohio Daughter: Cindy (Mike) Griffin of American Fork, Utah Daughter: Tamara (Corey) Zander of South Jordan, Utah Son: Brian (Lareen) Packer of Shannon, Ireland Sister: Patsy Ruth (Wayne) Hathaway of Idaho Falls, Idaho Sister: Janice (Bud) Carnahan of Roy, Utah Brother: Wesley (Kay) White of Mesa, Arizona 36 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren with two on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrle White, her husband, Grant, a son, Durel Peck Packer (age 11), a daughter, Wendy Packer (age 5), and three grandchildren, Heidi Packer Bradshaw, James Packer Bradshaw, and Rachel Ann Stallings. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Idaho Falls Stake Center, 1155 East First Street, with her son, Bishop John Packer, officiating. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, next to her husband.
