Beverly L.
Owen
Jan 25, 1932 — Jul 10, 2026
Beverly L. Owen, 94, of Dubois, Idaho, passed away at Morning Star Assisted Living, in Idaho Falls, ID, on July 10, 2026.
Beverly was born January 25, 1932, in Banning, California, the oldest child to Charles & Bertha (Stanley) Owsley. Beverly's father worked as an agricultural inspector for the State of California in border towns. When the oppressive heat of southern California became too much for her mother, they transferred to Dorris, in northern California. This was during World War II, so they traveled with General Patton's tank brigade through California at night for safe passage.
Beverly attended Butte Valley High School in Dorris, and graduated in 1949. She helped raise her rambunctious twin brothers, Ronald and Donald, and a much younger sister, Valerie. After graduation, she moved to Avenal, California, to begin nurses training. A handsome young man named Donis Owen caught her eye and they soon eloped to Reno, Nevada, to be married on June 21, 1953. Donis was attending school in Berkeley, California, studying forestry. Bev worked as a secretary to help Donis through school, and they soon started their family in California, when Macy Owen was born. The US Forest Service became their lifelong career taking them to Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and Idaho. Three more children completed their family-Mitchell, Mark and Martin.
Bev worked at various positions while rearing children including, being the "Avon" lady and for East Idaho Credit Union. After Don's retirement in 1984, they moved back to California and assisted with the operation of a bird hunting club. She felt the pull of nursing once again and went back to college at the age of 57 to finish her LVN nursing license. Bev loved working in the medical field and was very thorough in the details it entailed.
Upon Don's passing in 1997, Beverly eventually decided in 2003 to move back to the state she loved to call home the most-Idaho. Volunteering for the Heritage Hall Museum, gardening, and sewing kept her busy through her retirement in Dubois. After health challenges were too much, she moved to Morning Star Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. She loved using her nursing knowledge to educate the aides there and keep them in line!
Beverly is survived by her children: Macy Owen of Mililani, Hawaii, Mitch (Ruby) of Boise, ID, Mark of Portland, OR, and Marty (Conni) of Dubois, ID; brother-in-law, Alan Titus of Oregon, sister-in-law, Margie Owsley of Oregon, sister-in-law Phyllis Owsley of Oregon; seven grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donis; brothers, Ronald and Donald Owsley; sister, Valeri Titus; daughter-in-law, Anita Owen; and her parents.
The family appreciates the assistance of caregivers at Morning Star and Aspen Hospice.
The family suggests memorials to Heritage Hall Museum, PO Box 3, Dubois, ID 83423.
A Celebration of life will be held in Dubois, Idaho at a later date.
