Beulah Dalley

Beulah LaWanna Walther Dalley, 96 of Idaho Falls, passed away unexpectedly March 22, 2018. She lived an abundant and joyous life to the very end. The 12th of 13 children, Beulah was born January 17, 1922, in Elko, NV, to Joseph Crawford Walther and Julia Ann Warr. When she was 10 days old, she and her mother traveled from the "birthing home" in Elko back to their remote ranch near Fort Halleck in an open sleigh during a blizzard. She attended elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse with three to six students at Fort Halleck, NV and graduated from Elko High School. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Utah State Agricultural College (USU). She lived in Nevada, Utah, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Alabama, and settled in Idaho Falls in 1999 to be near family. She made friends wherever she lived and stayed in contact with them throughout her life. She was sealed to her forever sweetheart, James Edwin Dalley in the Logan Utah Temple. They were blessed with four children: James Leroy, Luana Gay, Linda Kay, and Carla Joy. Jim and Beulah dearly loved their extensive posterity. Beulah was a superb homemaker-- sewing, quilting, cooking, canning, gardening and sharing her skills and goods with others. She loved plants and flowers of all kinds, but especially her bearded iris and garden roses. Her homes were a floral showplace. Beulah, a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, loved her Lord and Savior and served Him and others all her days. She enjoyed 4-H as a youth and as an adult leader and served as a County Extension volunteer in three states. She gave home economics demonstrations for Extension groups for many years and was a trained Master Gardener and Master Preserver. In recent years, Beulah received many honors for baking and canning in the Eastern Idaho State Fair. She grew bountiful vegetable gardens of her own and was honored as Utah Volunteer of the Year for her work at the USU Botanical Gardens. Beulah is survived by her daughters: Gay (Laurel) Willis of Idaho Falls; Linda (Wallace) Carroll of Nauvoo IL; Carla (Howard) Cleavinger of Salem, UT; daughter-in law, Ina Dalley of Beavercreek, OH; and a sister, June Reilly of Oxnard, CA; 24 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 8 brothers and 3 sisters, son James Leroy Dalley, grandsons Daniel Cleavinger and Kevin Dalley, great-grandchildren Paige Willis, Mason Cleavinger, Nephi Carroll, Merideth Smart, and Emily Dalley. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Waterford LDS Ward, 5255 S. 5th West in Idaho Falls, with Bishop Gary West, officiating.
